Small church with clear historical layers and a Nørholm connection near Varde
In Varde Mini Town, the old market town has been made so easy to take in that children can follow the streets with their eyes, and adults can see the town plan from above. The houses stand as faithful copies in scale 1:10, placed according to the street layout in Varde in 1866. It creates a slightly odd feeling of being far too big for the town, while small facades, roofs and cobbled streets lie close around your feet.
The experience is not just something to look at. Children can try a treasure hunt in the garden, old games and build with small bricks on a model house. That makes history feel less distant: Varde in 1866 becomes both a model town and a place where details can be explored at child height.
The Mini Town’s houses are built with an eye for craftsmanship and historical details based on original drawings. At the mini-bricklayer workshop on Lundvej 4A, about 300 metres from the Mini Town, you can, in season, get an insight into the work with small bricks, roof tiles and miniature details on Tuesday and Thursday mornings. After a round in the Mini Town, it makes sense to notice Varde town centre afterwards, where some of the original buildings are still part of the real townscape.
