Trans Church is beautifully situated in the landscape on the edge of the North Sea, less than 100 metres away. When the boulder-built church was constructed in the 12th century, the coast lay 1 km further to the west, and the sea moves approximately 50 cm closer each year.
The prevailing westerly wind keeps all tree growth down. The distinctive white picket fences surrounding the few graves in the churchyard provide a little shelter for the sparse planting.
Apart from the closed Trans school and a few farms, the church stands on its own. This is typical of all the medieval churches in West Jutland.
East of the church is Trans School. The school operated until 1964, when the children moved to Fjaltring School and some went to Fjaltring Free School.
