St. Enders Chapel and cemetery were located in Øster Oksby near Blåvand. A square mound where the church stood can still be seen. The mound rises 2 m above the terrain and measures approx. 60 x 70 m.
It is believed that the church was damaged by the storm surge in 1362 (the Grote Mandrenke) and completely destroyed by the storm surge in 1634 (the Second Grote Mandrenke). Until the mid-19th century, the chapel was used for the burial of deceased sailors.
A legend says that Irish St. Enders monks began preaching Christianity in West Jutland from their small church as early as the year 750, 100 years before Ansgar.
Every year on Great Prayer Day, a pilgrimage hike is held starting at the remains of St. Enders Chapel. The destination of the hike is Sankt Jacobi Church in Varde.
