A few kilometres north of Stauning lies West Jutland Airport. The Danish Aviation Museum is also located here.
West Jutland Airport was inaugurated in 1965 and today is mainly used for training, taxi and private flights. At the same time, the airport is a major workplace, as aircraft are repaired on site.
The Danish Aviation Museum
The aviation museum is well worth a visit – the museum has a very large collection of vintage aircraft, and 4-6 times during the summer the museum is open in the evening, when the museum’s pilots take most of the old airworthy aircraft into the air.
Every year, a large vintage aircraft rally is held at the airport.
