The harbour is located on the eastern side of Ringkøbing Fjord. Its cosy atmosphere is created by small houses and a wonderful restaurant focusing on local ingredients from West Jutland. The harbour is mainly used by anglers and for leisure sailing.
Stauning Harbour, in its current form, was established in 1937. But as far back as ancient times, fjord fishing was undoubtedly carried out in Stauning alongside farming. Until 1936, the people of Stauning mostly fished at the river mouth, where they caught whitefish, flounder, eel and salmon.
