Castle, park and landscape make a cultural-historical excursion from the coastal town
Spodsbjerg is a harbour town where fishing is more than just a backdrop. Rental boats are ready at the harbour, and the town clearly caters to anglers with boat hire, fishing tackle facilities and a fish shop with its own smokehouse at the fishing harbour.
The harbour brings several functions together in a small area: a marina, fishing harbour and ferry harbour. This creates a place with holidaymakers, sailors, fishermen and cars heading towards Lolland, making it more of a workplace than a postcard.
The bathing beach is close to town, where you can follow the activity from the marina while children enjoy shallow water and sandbars to explore. There is also a playground and harbour facilities by the beach and harbour, making the place a practical stop for families, not just people with fishing rods.
Spodsbjerg lies on the east coast of Langeland and the ferry is still part of its rhythm. For sailors, the tourist marina is an east-facing base with a harbour building and service facilities, while motorhomes can use designated parking spaces according to the harbour's rules. Here, the coastal town is connected by very tangible movements: boats heading out, ferries arriving, children at the beach and fish on their way to the smokehouse.
Spodsbjerg-Tårs is the maritime shortcut from Langeland to Lolland: 45 minutes across the Langeland Belt instead of yet another long stretch on the road network.
The route is operated as Langelandslinjen and is part of the connection via Route 9 through southern Denmark. The ferries M/F Lolland and M/F Langeland are identical passenger and freight ferries; on M/F Lolland there are, among other things, a saloon deck, bistro, elevator, and sun deck. Here, transport becomes a small pause between the harbors.
Spodsbjerg is not just a harbour with fishing as decoration. The harbour is actively used by rental boats and excursion boats for sea fishing, including M/S Amigo, and the pier is known as a fishing spot for species such as sea trout, garfish, mackerel, flatfish, and herring depending on the season.
Fishing requires a valid fishing licence, and local signs and the harbour’s rules must be followed. Cod is part of the area’s fishing history, but recreational and leisure fishing for cod is prohibited in the area throughout 2026.
