The place is primarily linked to an archive photo from Syrenvej in Skovlund. Here, cooper Carl Thomas Peter Sørensen stands with a couple of dairymaids on the butter-tub cart, and the motif brings together several layers of everyday life: craftsmanship, dairy production, transport, and a small street scene that is not necessarily read in the same way today.
Carl Thomas Peter Sørensen made butter tubs for Skovlund Cooperative Dairy over a number of years. From 1950 he also supplied Ansager Cooperative Dairy, which before then got tubs from Tistrup. It is a sober but fairly precise story of how a local craft was tied to the production and logistics of the cooperative dairies.
The archive entry places the scene on Syrenvej. To the right in the photo you can see the cooper’s own house at Syrenvej 4, then Anker Ankersen’s “Ankers House”, and in the background part of Mølby Station can be seen. The station still exists, but is now private housing. The place is therefore best understood as a point in local memory rather than as an attraction with many visible traces.
