Forest Day in Ansager Plantation

The forest as a route and workshop

On Forest Day, Ansager Plantation becomes more than a path between the trees. Families follow a marked route through the forest, where the stops along the way make topics such as the history of the forest, bees, hunting, forestry, and energy from wood easier to understand for both children and adults.

The activities change

The programme is not the same every year. Sometimes there are tasks, a treasure hunt, or archery; other times children can build bird boxes, and forestry work comes up close with demonstrations of tree felling or topping. It is precisely this mix of walking, hands-on activities, and local people at the stops that sets the day apart from an ordinary Sunday walk in the plantation.

Good to know

The event is traditionally held in Ansager Municipal Plantation in odd-numbered years, while Gulddalslund Plantation near Skovlund takes over in even-numbered years. The exact time, starting point, and this year's content should therefore be checked in the current announcement before planning the trip.

The route can be done with a pram or stroller, but the surface is gravel paths. FDF is often part of the programme, and at the FDF cabin there are typically toilets as well as pancakes and sausages when included in that year's event.
