Ribe is an excursion destination for many visitors who come from near and far to enjoy the old quarters of the town centre and its very special urban atmosphere.
The old town can easily be explored on foot along the cobbled streets and lanes. Listed half-timbered houses from the 15th century give the town a very special medieval atmosphere.
Ribe's majestic landmark is Ribe Cathedral with the Citizens' Tower. Every year, thousands of people climb the 248 steps to the top, where there is a fine view.
The town has many specialist shops offering, among other things, design, art and crafts, fashion and food products with a focus on ingredients from the local area. Also visit Ribe Bryghus, where you can follow the brewing process and buy a bottle of freshly brewed beer.
Ribe Wine Festival is held every year on the first weekend of September and is a large wine market in the charming pedestrian street. Around 15 wine importers come here to offer tastings and talk about the different wines. Naturally, delicious accompaniments are also served.
Along Ribe Å, which runs through the old part of town, you can experience locks and many waterways that create recreational areas throughout the town.
