With 750 hectares, Randbøl Heath is Denmark’s largest inland heath. The heath lies on sandy soil consisting of windblown sand, which in some places has formed dunes.
As early as 9132, the heath was protected, but heather heathland is not a stable natural state, so the heath is managed by continuously removing tree growth.
There are many hiking, cycling, and riding trails in the area.
Randbøl Heath lies side by side with the beautiful Frederikshåb Plantation, which has been a popular destination since the state decided to establish the plantation in 1802.
