Nordby Church on Fanø

Nordby Church is an unusual church. The church interior is not divided into nave and chancel. In keeping with 18th-century custom, the pulpit was originally placed above the altar table.

The church was built in 1786 in the Neoclassical style. It replaced the parish’s old church in Rindby, which had fallen into such disrepair that it could not be saved. The church in Rindby stood in the churchyard that is still found there today.

The church contains nine votive ships, the oldest of which dates from around 1700 and the youngest from 1966. The baptismal font is made of bell metal and dates from the mid-15th century. The altarpiece and pulpit are from 1620.
