The Nature District in Ringkøbing

A green break between town and fjord

The Nature District is located southeast of Ringkøbing, close to Ringkøbing Fjord, and already functions as a recreational landscape with paths, meadows, woodland, lakes, berry gardens and fruit groves. It is a place where an ordinary walk quickly changes character: from open meadow stretches to small planted spaces, from water surfaces to places where children can play in a more physical way than on a traditional playground.

Play, ferry and small detours

The most tangible experiences are the nature playground and the cable ferry. They give the area a slightly offbeat everyday quality: this is not just planned housing and roads, but also places where you can pull yourself across the water, follow the paths in crisscross patterns and let the walk become longer than intended.

If you want to walk here from the town, there is a registered hiking route of 3.1 kilometers between Ringkøbing and the Nature District as part of the Ringkøbing Fjord Path.

Nature came before the houses

What is special about the Nature District is the order of things. Before the first homes were built, the former agricultural land was converted into a large natural area. The housing was planned in afterwards, not the other way around, and this is noticeable in the landscape: paths, water and planting are not decoration along the edge, but the very framework of the district.
