Mirador Es Colomer

Sea, cliffs and a vertical thrill

Mirador Es Colomer is one of those places on the Formentor road where the landscape almost seems designed to stop traffic. From the viewpoint, you look out over the Mediterranean, the rugged coastline of the Serra de Tramuntana and the small rocky islet of El Colomer, lying like a dark point in the blue.

The experience itself is short and concentrated: a stone staircase leads up towards the panorama, and along the way the angle of the cliffs and the sea changes. It is especially a place for those who want a view without a long hike, but the surface, stairs and accessibility are not described in detail.

Sunset with company

The viewpoint is known as a sunset spot, and groups often gather here when the light falls over the Mediterranean. This also makes the place less quiet at popular times, so the experience is as much an encounter with Formentor’s rhythm as with the view itself.

The road is part of the experience

The mirador is located on Ma-2210 towards Far de Formentor and is also referred to as Mirador de la Creueta or Mirador del Colomer. On arrival, there is a monument to Antonio Parietti Coll, the engineer behind both the road and the viewpoint. In the summer period, it is worth checking the access rules for the Formentor road in advance; bus 334 stops at the mirador and connects, among other places, Alcúdia, Port de Pollença and the lighthouse.
