Lyne Old Power Station

When electricity has a sound

Lyne Old Power Station is a small electricity museum where the history of technology is not just kept behind glass. Here, it is about machines that can be started up, diesel engines with generators, and the deep, chugging sound that makes it easier to understand that electricity was once something local, heavy, and mechanical.

Everyday electricity of the past

The exhibition contains old electrical items, telephones, and radios. These are the kinds of objects that can make several generations point to different things: a hand mixer, a curling iron, a vacuum cleaner, or a radio that looks like something from a childhood home. There is also equipment from a time when electricity was attributed almost miraculous qualities.

A local rescue effort

The building lost its original function and later stood as a machine house before local enthusiasts began restoring the power station as a museum. It is therefore also a story about volunteer work and local history, not just about wires, engines, and appliances. The address is Nørhedevej 23A in Lyne, and the opening hours are stated as the 1st and 3rd Thursday of the month from 13-17.
