Harvest Day at Karensminde

At the Karensminde Museum Farm, the Friends of Karensminde revive an old-fashioned harvest every year. On this day, many people are at work, and there is lively activity everywhere on the old farm.

First, the scythe is sharpened so it is nice and sharp before the harvesters head out into the field. The farmhands cut the grain with scythes, and the girls follow behind them, tying up the grain. Harvesting is demanding work, and after a while the harvesting machines are allowed to show what they can do. The reaper cuts the grain and lays it in piles, which the harvesters tie into sheaves.

At the farm, the coffee room and waffle stand are open, and the horse-drawn carriage takes visitors for rides when the fieldwork is finished.
