The North Sea right by the harbor

At Hvide Sande South Pier, beach life is close to the harbor entrance. Here you encounter high dunes, a fine sandy beach, fresh wind, and the waves that can quickly make the North Sea feel more rugged than pretty. From the beach, you can walk out onto the pier and get a view of the entrance, where the sea and the harbor almost stand shoulder to shoulder.

Surf and beach in the same stop

The south beach is not just for towels and swimwear. The surf spot at the South Pier is considered one of Denmark’s best wave spots, and the area is used for water sports such as surfing and kitesurfing. The place therefore works both for those who want to feel the sand under their feet and for those who would rather watch sails, boards, and wetsuits in the wind.

A beach with a red edge

The access down toward the beach has a special detail in Vestled: a sculptural passage with red brick paving, a bronze sculpture, and dark tiles. It has been laid out so that both prams and wheelchairs can get down toward the beach. This makes the South Pier a practical North Sea stop, but also a place where the transition from parking area to sea has been given a little more shape than just a path through the sand.
