Hjerpsted Beach

From here, you have a unique view of the Wadden Sea, and in good weather you can see both the island of Sylt and Rømø.

Here, where Hjerpsted hill island meets the Wadden Sea, is one of the few places where there is no need to build dikes, and the coast is naturally formed. Without dikes and groynes, the sea has, over a thousand years of storm surges, been allowed to pound away at the hill island, which in places facing the Wadden Sea ends in cliffs up to 13 m high.

A suggested route starts at Hjerpsted Church, where the route follows the coast south to Emmerlev Klev. The return route can go through Tingdal Plantage.
