Hindø lies west of Hee, flat in Stadil Fjord and connected to the mainland from the east via a dam and bridge. The walk begins at the bridge foot and continues out onto an island where the landscape rises very little above the water. It is precisely this low terrain that creates the long views: the fjord surface, the reed beds and the salt meadows lie open around the path.
The marked walk over the bridge, around Hindø and back is about 5 km. The route follows a marked path through the meadows, and above all it is a quiet walk for anyone who likes plenty of open space in view. To the south, the silhouette of Ringkøbing can be seen, while Stadil Church stands as a landmark to the north.
On and around Hindø, you can especially encounter waterfowl and waders, and in spring salt-meadow birds such as redshank and lapwing may stay on the island. Bittern, coots and grebes are associated with the reed beds in the area, and marsh harriers and hen harriers can be seen hunting over the island and fjord.
The island is privately owned and protected, but the protection grants access for pedestrians on the bridge and around the island. Movement must take place on the indicated path, which is discreetly marked with green arrows.
