The church was built in 1954 after funds had been raised for it over several years. It is built of yellow bricks in a late Romanesque style.
Inside, the walls have white rendering and flat beamed ceilings, and on the altar there is a large, plain oak cross, about which Minister for Ecclesiastical Affairs Bodil Koch said at the church’s consecration that “It would be good to hide in its cracks”.
The carpet in front of the altar was embroidered in 1981 by 27 women from Hvide Sande. In the church hang the church ships “Fanny” and the fishing cutter “Jenny Skomager”.
