Forest Day in Gulddalslund Plantation is not a quiet stroll with your hands in your pockets. The activities are spread throughout the forest, so the family moves from station to station between the lake, the fire hut, and the forest trail.
At Børges Lake, the scouts serve campfire food, and children and adults can get close to the aquatic animals. There is also pony riding for children, while the whole family can take a ride in a horse-drawn carriage. One of the day's more hands-on features is tree felling, where you can watch the forestry work happen right in front of you.
The day ends north of Ålling Lake at Hansminde Cabin with coffee or juice and cake. This gives the event a very down-to-earth rhythm: first fire, animals, water, and forest machinery, then a cup in hand by the cabin.
Gulddalslund Plantation is located north of Skovlund by Ålling Lake, and the area has trails, a fire shelter, a picnic shelter, as well as tables and benches. Ålling Lake is private, but there is access around the lake on a constructed path, and the birdlife can be seen from the bird tower on the eastern side of the lake. Forest Day is held here every other year, alternating with Ansager Plantation.
