Gram Castle

A castle with farm, lake and park

Gram Castle lies low in the landscape, surrounded by Gram Castle Lake and close to Gram Å. Here it is not only the main building that stands out: the home farm, manor stable, park, lake and associated buildings together form a manor complex that marks the arrival in Gram.

The castle park south of the castle mound is open to the public, so a visit can easily be about a peaceful walk among water, axes and old traces of the park, even without having to go behind the castle walls.

Three wings, three layers of time

The main building has three wings and is built in red brick with red, half-hipped roofs, white cornices and eight brick chimney stacks. The three wings each tell their own part of the building history: the east wing has Late Gothic features from shortly before 1500, while the south and west wings point towards the Baroque manor architecture of later centuries.

This gives the castle a special rhythm: unified from a distance, but more complex the longer you look at the brickwork, wings and courtyard spaces.

A living manor today

Today, Gram Castle also functions as an experience venue with guided tours, events, restaurant, farm shop and accommodation in buildings around the castle. The kitchen follows a field-to-table philosophy and uses produce from its own fields or local producers whenever possible. The castle itself is also a private home, so access to the interior rooms depends on the offers and events open to guests.
