Bird Hide and Exhibition at Lønborggaard

The bird hide at Lønborggård offers good views in all directions. To the west lies the old bishop’s manor, and to the east you can see Lønborg Church. The footpath was renovated in 2021, so you can walk out to it with dry feet for most of the year.

Skjern Enge Nature Exhibition

Skjern Enge Nature Exhibition is a good starting point for a visit to the western part of the river valley. From here, it is a short walk to the southern cable ferry.

At the nature exhibition, you can learn about the many birds in the meadows. The exhibition is open from 9 am to 6 pm every day of the week from 15 April to 31 October. Admission is free.

You can enjoy your packed lunch or coffee outdoors at the tables and benches provided.

Lønborggård

In the Middle Ages, a royal estate was located here. Later, the estate came under the Bishopric of Ribe. The estate was plundered by Skipper Clement’s peasant army during the Count’s Feud, 1534-1536.

Remains of the estate’s old moats can still be seen east and west of the farm.

Lønborggaard’s location by the Skjern River has, over time, provided its owners with a major source of income through fishing. Today, the estate has been converted into function rooms, a course centre, and a holiday centre.
