The plantation consists of Norway spruce, but with an increasing amount of mixed deciduous woodland. You may encounter red deer, roe deer, hares, foxes, badgers and nightjars.
Along the oaks there is a forest road, sheltered by oak trees and running alongside a dike that was used to mark the boundary of the forest and provide shelter for new trees when the planting of Randbøl Hede began in 1804.
There are several marked routes in the plantation.
