Fjaltring Church

The church nave and chancel were built in the mid-12th century. The tower, built around the year 1500, was once lower and had a sloping roof.

In the churchyard, the burial plots are enclosed by white picket fences as shelter from the westerly wind.

The Altarpiece

The triptych altarpiece dates from 1450. On the wings are figures of the 12 apostles. In the three-part central panel, on the left, Mary’s mother, Anne, is seen with Mary, who in turn has the infant Jesus on her lap. In the center, God presents the crucified Christ. On the right is Saint Christopher with the infant Jesus on his shoulder.
