The Fishermen’s Houses

"Æ`fiskehuus" Tool sheds for fjord fishermen. This was a landing place and shipping point for trade with the residents of Holmsland Klit until a bridge was built over Von Å in 1860, making it possible to travel north around the fjord.

The water here was deep enough for the flat-bottomed barges to sail all the way in, so goods such as bricks could be transshipped directly from wagons driven into the water by horses. Lost bricks can still be found on the fjord bed.

100 m south of the fishermen’s houses stood the illicit inn "Krass-ud", which was the last in the row of illicit inns between Stauning and Ringkøbing.
