A short distance outside Nymindegab Beach, you will find three small, charming, thatched fishing huts. They are called the Ese Houses. It is an idyllic place to eat packed food or stretch your legs. There is a small path along the lake.
History
From 1816 to 1880, the town of Nymindegab was an attractive fishing area, and many people therefore fished from Nymindegab. At that time, Nymindegab was the passage to the North Sea, where it is now in Hvide Sande. In spring and summer, farmhands and maids from the inland farms came out to the fishery. They lived in the small huts while they fished.
The houses got their name because it is called “et ese” when you put bait on the fishing lines. The reconstructed fishing environment consists of 3 ese huts and a tool shed, which was the normal setup for a boat guild.
