Located just north of the route and continues the experience of flat meadows, fjord water, and bird life around Tipperne.
The route at Bjålum Klit is a short hike through a vast landscape. The dune rises above the flat meadow areas in the southern part of the Tipper Peninsula, and along the way the views shift between old coastal dunes, reed beds, open meadows and fjord landscape. This is not a trip with dramatic heights, but one of long lines, wind and a great deal of sky.
The trail goes around Bjålum Klit and reaches Nymindestrømmen, the former connection between Ringkøbing Fjord and the North Sea. Here, the polders in the stream form a bird reserve, especially for gulls and terns, and the place gives a clear sense of why the Tipper Peninsula is known as a land of birds.
For bird enthusiasts, this is a hike where binoculars are worthwhile. For others, it may be above all the contrast between the low, wet land and the dry dune that stays with them.
The trail begins about 50 metres north of Sydladen by a green trail sign. The surface is narrow and sandy and may be wet and soft, so the route is best suited to walkers. Dogs must be kept on a lead. No toilets or benches are listed at Sydladen or along the route, and in the bird areas you should follow signs and instructions carefully.
South Barn is the practical starting point for the loop around Bjålum Dune. Parking is available here, and approximately 50 metres to the north, the trail begins on the left by a green trail sign.
The route is approximately 6–6.2 km and goes all the way around the dune. Part of the route follows Nyminde Stream, where the shoals in the stream are a bird sanctuary, especially for gulls and terns.
