Bagges Dam

Bagges Dam crosses the northern end of Ringkøbing Fjord. The old dam is the remains of an attempt more than 100 years ago to reclaim more land from the fjord for agriculture. An attempt that failed a few years after the dam was completed. During a storm surge, the dam was breached.

Today, the two gaps in the dam have been closed, as bridges have been built across them for the benefit of pedestrians and cyclists, who can enjoy a very special nature experience here by walking or cycling "out in the fjord”, and the experience is unique!

From the dam there are open views of the fjord, and Søndervig to the north and Ringkøbing to the southeast.

Bollerup Småhuse

Bollerup Småhuse is located close to Bagges Dæmning. Surfers know the place as Surf Spot Kloster. It is a good base for surfing on the fjord. Rumours of the site's qualities have spread, and when the weather conditions are ideal, there is a veritable procession down the long gravel road from Søndervig Landevej, and the brightly coloured surfer sails light up the sky while the surfers speed across the water below. On good days, you can easily count 60-70 sails in the air.

The facilities can be used not only by surfers but also by cyclists, walkers and runners.
