At the end of the Tramuntana mountain range lies the town of Andratx. The town has everything you need in terms of shops, supermarkets and restaurants.
Andratx is an old town mostly inhabited by locals. The town was built inland to be protected from the constant threat of pirates. In the 17th century, 14 watchtowers were built along the coast to warn of attacks; 12 of the towers are still preserved.
Santa Maria is a fortified church located high in Andratx’s old town. In the mid-16th century, a defensive tower was built right next to the church.
The market in Andratx is definitely worth a visit. It is held every Wednesday from 9 AM to 2 PM in the town’s streets and offers a wide selection of fresh fruit, vegetables, handicrafts, flowers, clothing, and more.
CCA Andratx er et danskejet galleri med skiftende udstillinger af moderne kunst. Galleriet blev grundlagt i 2001 af danskerne Jacob og Patricia Asbæk.
